Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
This policy covers the apps Positives and Negatives for macOS and this website. They are made by Giacomo Ancora, an individual developer based in Italy, who is responsible for them.
In short
The apps collect nothing. They have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and they never send your photos or any information about you anywhere.
The apps
- No internet connection. The apps work entirely on your Mac. They do not connect to the internet on their own. The only links in them (Help → Website and Help → Buy Me a Coffee, and the links in the Credits window) open in your web browser when you click them.
- Your photos stay on your Mac. The apps only open the files you choose. All processing, including the automatic sky, subject and people selection, runs on your Mac. Your original files are never changed.
- What is saved, and where. Positives saves the edits you choose to keep, small thumbnails and your
presets in its own folder on your Mac (
~/Library/Application Support/Positives). Negatives saves each roll's settings in a small file next to your scans. Both apps remember simple preferences, such as your export format. Nothing of this leaves your Mac, and deleting the app and these files removes it. - No data from children or anyone else is collected, because no data is collected at all.
This website and the downloads
This website and the downloads are hosted by GitHub (GitHub Pages and GitHub Releases). Like any web host, GitHub may process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and files and keep them secure; see the GitHub Privacy Statement. This website itself uses no cookies, analytics or trackers.
Support and payments
If you choose to support the apps through Buy Me a Coffee, that payment and any information you give there are handled by Buy Me a Coffee and its payment providers under their own privacy policy. I only receive what that service shares with creators, such as your name and message if you leave one, and I use it only to thank you.
Reporting problems
If you open an issue on GitHub, what you write there is public and handled under GitHub's terms. Please do not include personal information or private photos.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. Questions about privacy: open an issue on GitHub.
